This polychrome gilded wooden statue showed numerous signs of damage.
Its carved support was weakened and cracked.
Grafting was necessary to stabilise it. New primers were applied and partial gilding with fine gold leaf was carried out while maintaining the gold still in good condition. A remedial patina will prolong its authentic aspect. The skin tones were retouched as well as the base. A faux marble base was created to add stability and allow the insertion of an anti-theft system.
